Ladies and gentlemen, distinguished guests, athletes, the media and fellow enthusiasts,

As the sun sets over the majestic hills of Troutbeck, Nyanga, we gather here to celebrate the culmination of an exhilarating journey—the 2024 Bonaqua Africa Triathlon Cup. This 16th edition has been nothing short of extraordinary, fuelled by determination, camaraderie, and the spirit of sportsmanship.

Triathlon is a celebration of human endurance, resilience, and the pursuit of excellence. It embodies the spirit of unity, pushing boundaries, and embracing challenges head-on. Today, we witness athletes from across the world converging here, to swim, cycle, and run their hearts out. Their dedication and passion inspire us all.

But our gratitude extends beyond Bonaqua, water by design! We stand on the shoulders of giants—the giants who believe in the transformative power of sports. To Cimas IGO, African Sun, Ecocash, CFAO Motors, Rooneys, African Sun, Simbisa Brands, and MCM Legal, thank you for being the wind beneath our wings. Your partnership has elevated this festival into a multisport extravaganza, where dreams take flight.

Coca-Cola, a brand that resonates with joy, refreshment, and shared moments, is proud to be associated with this event organisers of the event, led by Rick Fulton. Our commitment to supporting sports and healthy lifestyles runs deep. We believe that every drop of our iconic beverage fuels not just thirst but also dreams. Whether it’s the exhilaration of crossing the finish line or the camaraderie forged during training sessions, Coca-Cola is there, celebrating with you.

As we gather here, I am reminded of the words of the late Nelson Mandela: “Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does.” Today, we witness that power in action—the power of determination, the power of community, and the power of the human spirit.

I would like to express our gratitude to the Deputy Minister of  Youth, Sport, Arts, and Recreation , who graces this occasion with their presence. Your unwavering support for sports development and your commitment to nurturing talent are commendable. Together, we can create a legacy that transcends medals and records—a legacy of inspiration for generations to come.

To the athletes: You are the heartbeat of this event. Your dedication, sacrifice, and unwavering focus are inspiring. As you dive into the water, pedal through the challenging terrain, and sprint toward the finish line, know that you carry the hopes of many. May your efforts be rewarded not only with victory but also with the satisfaction of knowing you’ve given your all.

And to our spectators: Your cheers reverberate across time. You are the symphony that accompanies every stroke, every turn of the pedal, every footfall. Your presence transforms this festival into a celebration of shared dreams.

As the Coca-Cola Franchise Manager for Zimbabwe, I am privileged to witness the convergence of talent, resilience, and sheer grit. Our athletes—both seasoned and junior—have pushed their limits, defying fatigue, conquering doubts, and leaving their heartbeats on the tracks. Each stroke, each pedal, each stride is a testament to the human spirit’s indomitable will.

And what a spectacular venue! Troutbeck, with its emerald-green hills, mirrored lakes, and crisp mountain air, provides the perfect canvas for this sporting spectacle. As we breathe in the freshness, let us also inhale the lessons this landscape offers—the lessons of persistence, adaptability, and unity.

As we gather for this dinner, let us raise our glasses—not just to victory but to the journey itself. May the bonds forged here endure, may the memories linger, and may the spirit of the 16th Africa Triathlon Cup continue to inspire generations.

Thank you, Zimbabwe, for hosting us. Let us Savor this moment—a moment where passion meets purpose, where sweat mingles with joy, and where the spirit of triathlon lives on.

Thank you, Troutbeck, Nyanga, for hosting us

Have a good evening!
