It is always immediately after hitting the send button that you realize that the email was sent to the wrong or unintended recipient(s). Or that it needed to be changed, or you forgot to add an attachment or that it was forwarded in error.
The good news is GMAIL gives you 5 seconds by default and 30 seconds by custom settings to unsend the email before it starts its journey to the recipient/s. You have to be fast enough to find the small window at the bottom-left corner of your browser and press “Undo” within a few seconds and your email will be unsent.
How to Enable the Undo Send feature in Gmail on the web
The catch to unsending an email is adjusting the setting to a higher number than the default setting of five seconds prior to sending the email. Once adjusted, the setting is applied to all emails sent in future.
1. Click on the “Settings” cog in Gmail, then select “See all settings”.

2. In the Undo Send section, the default “Send cancellation period” will be set to 5 seconds. Change the “Send cancellation period” to 30 seconds from the drop-down menu as this allows a few extra moments to contemplate your email.

3. Once you have made your adjustment, scroll down the page and click Save Changes for it to take effect.
