Multimedia has successfully concluded an integrated media and publicity campaign for the 2026 Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance Festival, helping amplify one of Zimbabwe’s most important celebrations of traditional dance and cultural heritage.
The curtain came down on another memorable edition of the festival at Harare Gardens, where Mufakose-based Shingai Dance Group was crowned the 2026 national champion.
The national finals brought together outstanding traditional dance groups from across Zimbabwe, transforming Harare Gardens into a vibrant showcase of music, dance, costume and cultural identity.
Celebrating Zimbabwe’s cultural heritage
Held under the theme “Ngoma Ngairire Shamwari, Tshay’ Isgubhu Mngane,” the 2026 festival celebrated Zimbabwe’s rich cultural heritage while highlighting the importance of preserving traditional dance for future generations.
After progressing through the provincial competitions, the country’s leading dance groups met on the national stage to compete for top honours.
Shingai Dance Group emerged victorious and walked away with the US$15,000 first prize.
Bulawayo’s Ezimnyama Dance Ensemble secured second place and US$10,000, while
Manicaland’s Dapuraunanzva Arts Ensemble finished third, receiving US$7,500.
The result also meant that Harare retained the national championship following the capital’s victory through Green Stars in the previous edition.
Multimedia driving the conversation
As the official media and publicity partner, Multimedia supported the festival throughout its journey from the provincial competitions to the national finals.
Our communications approach was designed to ensure that Chibuku Neshamwari remained visible before, during and after the major festival milestones.
The integrated campaign incorporated media relations, publicity, digital storytelling and marketing, creating sustained opportunities for audiences to engage with the festival and the stories behind Zimbabwe’s traditional dance groups.
Rather than focusing solely on the national finale, Multimedia provided publicity support throughout the competition, helping turn provincial results, participating dance groups, cultural performances and the national finals into compelling media stories.

Strong earned-media visibility
The campaign generated prominent media coverage around the national finals.
Ahead of the event, the Daily News carried the headline “Stage set for Chibuku Neshamwari national finals,” building anticipation for the national competition.
Following the finals, the publication returned with “Harare’s Shingai wins CNTDF finals,” documenting the group’s victory and the performances of the finalists.
NewsDay also gave the festival prominent coverage under the headline “Shingai rules Chibuku Dance Festival,” extending the story beyond the event itself and highlighting the cultural significance of the competition.
This combination of pre-event publicity, event-day storytelling and post-event media coverage helped maintain momentum around Chibuku Neshamwari throughout the campaign.

Communications that connect brands, culture and communities
For Multimedia, Chibuku Neshamwari demonstrates the role strategic communications can play in ensuring culturally significant events reach audiences far beyond the venue.
Traditional dance is more than entertainment. It carries history, identity, community stories and knowledge from one generation to another. Effective publicity helps give those stories a larger platform while creating stronger connections between festivals, brands, performers, media and communities.
The successful conclusion of the 2026 Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance Festival therefore represents more than another completed campaign for Multimedia. It demonstrates how integrated media relations and storytelling can elevate national events while supporting the preservation and celebration of Zimbabwean culture.
At Multimedia, we tell stories that matter, build visibility around the moments that matter, and help brands connect meaningfully with the communities they serve.
