Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) Namibia has launched its annual Under the Cap promotion, giving consumers across Namibia an opportunity to win a share of N$1 million in cash prizes.

Running from 1 September to 31 December 2026, the promotion had already attracted more than 100,000 entries within its first two weeks, demonstrating strong early consumer engagement.

The campaign transforms everyday Coca-Cola purchases into opportunities to win while creating memorable moments and stories for consumers around the country. Coca-Cola Senior Marketing Manager Faith Nehanda described the promotion as being about more than prizes, highlighting the experiences and stories created through consumer participation.

N$1 Million in Cash Prizes

This year's Under the Cap campaign includes a N$50,000 grand prize as well as weekly N$5,000 cash prizes.

The promotion builds on an established campaign platform. During the previous two years, more than 6,800 Namibians won prizes including cash, refrigerators, microwaves and airtime.

Consumers can participate by purchasing selected products, including Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Fanta, Sprite, Twist, Sparletta and Stoney in participating plastic bottles, checking the unique code beneath the yellow cap and following the campaign entry instructions.

A Consumer Campaign Built Around Connection

While cash prizes provide a strong incentive to participate, the campaign is also designed to deepen Coca-Cola's relationship with consumers.

Speaking at the media launch, Nehanda said the promotion rewards Coca-Cola's loyal consumers and celebrates their continued support.

That message gives the campaign an important communications dimension. Rather than positioning Under the Cap simply as a competition, it creates opportunities for individual consumer stories to become part of a broader brand conversation.

For public relations, these moments are particularly valuable because they can sustain interest throughout a multi-month campaign instead of concentrating attention only around the launch.

Multimedia's Role in the Coca-Cola Namibia Campaign

Multimedia is the PR partner for the Under the Cap campaign in Namibia.

Our team managed the media launch in Windhoek and continues to support the campaign through ongoing publicity and communications.

The assignment demonstrates Multimedia's ability to deliver communications support for major consumer brands across Southern African markets.

Our work around the campaign focuses on helping maintain visibility beyond the initial launch by keeping the promotion relevant to consumers, media and wider stakeholders throughout its duration.

From Launch Moment to Sustained Media Visibility

An effective consumer campaign needs more than one announcement.

For promotions running over several months, communications must continually remind audiences that the campaign is active, explain how consumers can participate, highlight campaign milestones and create new reasons for media and consumers to engage with the story.

That is where ongoing PR becomes particularly important.

The Coca-Cola campaign has already attracted mainstream media attention. New Era's Business section featured the N$1 million promotion, reporting both the prize structure and the strong volume of early consumer entries.

That type of editorial exposure extends campaign visibility beyond Coca-Cola's owned channels and places the promotion in front of wider audiences.

The campaign also demonstrates an important principle of public relations: the launch is only the beginning of the story.

A strong publicity strategy creates multiple opportunities to communicate during the life of a campaign — from launch coverage and participation milestones to winner stories and campaign updates.

With Coca-Cola Namibia's Under the Cap promotion continuing until 31 December 2026, the campaign provides an ongoing platform for consumer engagement and storytelling.

For Multimedia, our role is to help ensure those stories reach the audiences that matter.
